Simple Living

The great joy I have had in the mundane moments. Nothing is more honoring than getting invited into the everyday because that takes more vulnerability. The strength the locals carry does not go unnoticed. Village life is so beautiful to witness and partake in…so many coming together to lift one another up.

Some favorite moments♥️

Playing with “J” at the house after ministry! God knows I love kids and it has blessed my heart to spend time with the little girl. We watch on my phone, color pictures, make silly faces, and laugh!

Experiencing how they live! From language, washrooms, laundry, cooking, or traveling, I am constantly learning. It’s been so humbling to bear witness and live life among the locals.

Eating their traditional foods! Ugali, meats, chapati, greens—no silverware, we use our hands! The other day I watched them pick out the chicken we’d be eating for dinner, nice and fresh!

Dancing with children in the village and at the schools! They’ve taught me many of their traditional dances and I have followed along!

These are just a few accounts of the ways they’ve welcomed me into their village. It’s not a fancy life but it’s joyous. I think people often take for granted the every day, the gift of today, of life. What we do in the small moments is just as important as what we do in the big moments.

I often don’t know what each day will hold and it has brought me to a humbling surrender before the Lord. I am not in control but HE is and that is all the security I need. I am excited to continue to learn, be stretched, and humbled. May I decrease and He increase.

“Now true religion does bring great riches, but only to those who are content with what they have. For we have brought nothing into the world; and we can take nothing out of it; so if we have food and clothing, we will be satisfied with these.”
